Everything hidden will eventually come to the light. Those pimples will appear once again.
- What is the first thing you think of when you look in the mirror and see a pimple?
I know my first thought is to cover it up. And sometimes I am tempted to pop it.
As we allow the Holy Spirit to apply a spiritual mud mask to our hearts and reveal truth in our lives we will have to face and deal with many spots and blemishes, one of those being the pimple of pride.
When you pick at that pimple enough, it becomes a scar of self righteousness. By nature, all of us are rebels who want to be celebrities instead of servants. It takes a great deal of beauty treatments for us to exchange this pimple of pride for His spotless humility.
This may be a beauty treatment that we will need for the rest of our lives until He calls for us to come home. Always be aware of that ugly pimple of pride. It pops up when you least expect it and it must be immediately removed.
Pride will blind you from seeing the Truth. Others will see it, but unless you look intently into the mirror, that pride will remain on your face and you will not even realize it.
“In your great pride you claim, ‘I am a god! I sit on a divine throne in the heart of the sea.’ But you are only a man and not a god, though you boast that you are a god” (Ezekiel 28:2). You can be sure that when our hearts become arrogant and hard from pride, God will depose us from our royal throne and strip us from all glory, just as he did to any king that set themselves above God” (Daniel 5:20).
It was said that Moses was more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth (Number 12:3). If Moses was more humble than anyone on the face of the earth, then we need to be humble like him, if we want to see God’s Glory. He was chosen to be the leader, not because of his eloquence or education; no, he was chosen simply because he was humble. So what was it that made Moses so humble? Why was he able to ascend the mountain of God and come away with a radiant face? If you want the radiant face that Moses had, then you need to get rid of those pimples of pride. Humility comes in different forms. If someone was correcting me, then in humility I received the correction knowing that I do not know everything and I could learn a lot from others.
Can you see the pimple of pride on your face? You may need someone else to point it out to you, and if it is brought to your attention then don’t try to cover it up, just acknowledge that it is there, it is true, and allow the Lord to remove it from you, give it to Him and exchange it for His spotless humility.
Our King will not be done with us until it is time for Him to take us into His palace in Heaven. Until then, we must gladly receive all the beauty treatments that He wants to give us to make us a more blameless and spotless bride.
We need to be completely available for a dose of His beauty. Even just a smudge of His beauty is better than what this life has to offer. He is so beautiful! The more that we gaze upon His beauty, the more His beauty reflects upon our own faces.
