Giving Thanks for Daily Dish Six

DAILY DISH: Carbohydrates of Colossians

The whole book of Colossians is a tasty and hearty meal. I could eat from this book every day. It is filling with every bite and that is why I like to chew on it little by little. Let’s give thanks and bite into these two verses from the first chapter today:

He is the One we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. 29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.

“Today, just today.”

Simple words that changed the outcome of today. When my friend sent me the text, she was proclaiming Christ with all wisdom in order that I could fully mature in Christ. I have been too worried about tomorrow, and next week and next month. She was admonishing me to look upward and she was teaching me something I apparently taught her in her darkness nights.

“Today, just today.”

My circumstances haven’t changed but my perspective has (at least for today).

And at least today I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ has so powerfully worked in me. It takes discipline to keep your mind and eyes on Christ. So my thankful thoughts are for the energy that He has given me to do just that.

“Tomorrow is rough. Today is enough.” Jodie Dye
